Happy Mother’s Day to me

Mum and Mia Day didn’t go as well as hoped. Ickle gave Em some pjs and a onsie that says “I <3 U", Em had been sick so she didn't have the energy to do my present or write in my card. I made myself some very tasty pancakes after putting Ickle back to bed and got ready for our trip to the play.

The play was very sweet, it was based on the book Cat by Mike Dumbleton and the Windmill actors and costumes were really good. Ickle loved a bird that sailed over the audience and thought the lady sitting next to us had a shirt that need to be touched constantly. The play was for 1 to 3 year olds and it was noticeable that the older kids were a little bored. We were given a cupcake when we left and Ickle ended up with orange icing everywhere :)

Today we went and picked up GTA IV, my birthday present from my mum (yay!!!) and picked out some goodies for Ickle’s 1st birthday party :)

Birthdays and unBirthdays

I turned almost 30 this week (29, it’s as close as it gets) and Em and Ickle had their unBirthdays too! Em called on her way home from work the day before saying she’d be late so I guessed she was at Borders and I was getting a book. We ate breakfast and sat on the bed opening presents. Ickle got a book about monsters and a big bird toy, Emsie got Judith Lucy’s autobiography and 3000 Xbox Live points and I got a photography book from Em and Ickle got me a book about places you can take kids on holidays… secretly I think it’s more a hint than a present.

On Thursday night we were having my faux birthday party and Ickle started to be sick in her cot, she was sick throughout the rest of the party and a few of our friends waited with us until the locum arrived in the wee hours. Ickle has tonsillitis. She’s been really lethargic the last three days, however she picked up enough to play in the bath tonight. Poor little kid.

Emsie is sick as well, the locum came today to give her a shot in the behind as she’d been sick for about 12 hours straight.

Tomorrow is Mother’s Day and we’re off to see a kids play “Cat” at the State Library.  I think we’ll miss swimming unless Ickle is much brighter in the morning.

Happy Mother’s Day to my Mum :)

Misty Hollow and the trip magical to Hahndorf

So.. very.. excited

It’s an absolutely gorgeous autumn day here today – perfect weather for a ride in the hills. As Envy is still in the crash repair shop we loaded up the car and headed to the hills. Heading up in to the hills there were warnings saying there was a hazard up ahead. We didn’t change our plans and came to a standstill on the ascent in a queue of traffic as long as you could see. It’s three lanes along the highway and the left lane was empty so I merged over to there, sneaked to the front of the queue and merged in front of a truck – hooray for being one of those drivers I hate ;) There was work inside on of the Heysen Tunnels so we had to share one tunnel with the down trackers.

Hahndorf was absolutely gorgeous. The deciduous trees lining the road in were orange and leaves were falling as we drove through – way too cool. We stopped for lunch as Ickle hadn’t eaten yet, she had lentils with vegetables, some lime milkshake and a few chips. She tried a piece of my quiche and promptly spat it out again claiming poison :)

We walked up to the puppet shop and back down the the toy shop which has a cute Misty Hollow walk through which we’d decided to take Ickle in to. I can’t believe how much she loved it :) Wind in the Willows was being read which Em and I both love and Ickle became obsessed with the water fountain and tried to climb in to have a bath. We convinced her to keep walking and we ended up at the fairy scene. It turns out my kid loves fairies (totally my fault) – she kept standing up on tippy toes to see over the railing and squealing with excitement. She also found a fairy on the roof and tried to liberate it!

The drive back from Hahndorf was good, not too much traffic and the tunnel was pretty clear. Ickle got a bit restless near home, she didn’t fall asleep in the car and was overtired by the time we got home. She’s been asleep now for a few hours and it’s dinner time and almost bed time, poor wee might!

Well, that’s behind us

No Ickle here

April was pretty full on for us and I’m hoping for a change of pace in May.

On the weekend we went with our God daughter (Small) and Ickle’s Nounas to have the kids do some underwater photography.  We were really impressed with our swimming instructor who was the assistant, Small was so impressed she decided she’d be going to swimming lessons there now.

For the last week I’ve had Shigella – sounds exotic doesn’t it?  There was an outbreak here and the Gov’t released a health warning and it seems Ickle got it first and gave it to me.  Not so cool after recovering from the knee op – oh yeah, knee is much better and I see the surgeon next week.

We’ve taken the first steps in making Bugs v2.0!  Our Thorpie is heading overseas to shack up with his gorgeous missus and we got to the point where it wasn’t going to be feasible to have two kids from the same gene pool when we called Queensland Fertility Group.  The staff there have been awesome and Thorpie has an appointment with our reproductive specialist this month to work out a plan for freezing some swimmers – enough for two more kidlets and we’ll start trying for v2.0 in the next year or two.  Squee!  I’m a wee bit excited.

Holidays plans are still coming along nicely, as are plans for Ickle’s 1st birthday party :)
