Sometimes it’s all about me
On Thursday I had an arthroscopy on my right knee. It’s my second on the knee and I wasn’t sure what they would find this time. The Dr found more damage than the first surgery and he fixed up a major tear in my medial joint and removed 50% of the cartilage. The surgery was actually really exciting, I had a general so didn’t get to see much though I got really nauseas after moving to recovery and promptly threw up everywhere and the nurses were reluctant to remove my extra fluids and let me home.  I started feeling a lot better and got seen by the physio and was discharged by 11am. It’s Saturday now and the pain has started to abate, it’s noticeably more tender this time and I was getting pretty knocked around by the pain killers so I’ve decided to stop taking them and have stopped feeling dizzy and sleepy.
This weekend is Orthodox Easty and we’ve also got an underwater photography session tomorrow. It’ll be nice to be able to get out of the house
Zen habits and TFP
Taking a leaf out of Leo’s blog Zen Habits, I’m writing this in my PJs, both my girls are asleep (it’s 8am) and I’ve turned the central heating on.
Em’s hospital visit yesterday went ok; we both got a little rattled when, while in a ward full of people twice her age, Em’s doctor dropped a suggestion of removing part of Em’s internal organs. Eep. Thankfully we don’t have to head back for another two years.
Ickle stayed with her Aunty Mish for the afternoon and had a big nap, ate all her dinner (pumpkin couscous!) and played with her ride on dinosaur with Unki Baa.
Today we’re really excited to be meeting baby Bailey, we’ve all been a bit sick so couldn’t go visit him last week. Hopefully I have some photos by this afternoon
Another short one today, the wee one in her pink butterfly camo PJs has woken and is making mischief.
Lost in the arms of destiny
Each day I am thankful for how lucky I am; Mum to a healthy little monster, partner to a beautiful soul who completes me, food on our table and a roof over our head. The last few weeks have, as Em put it, been really bittersweet. We we totally thrilled to hear of Project Elvis due October 2008 and the safe arrival of Bailey and Hunter and have been devastated for friends whose beautiful baby girl Sophie left this world before seeing it. Today our friends put their daughter to rest and they haven’t left my thoughts all day, I can not imagine how hard it is for them
Ickle is still sick, back on another 2 weeks of antibiotics for an URTI. Em heads in for day surgery tomorrow. And me? I’d like a few hours more sleep

Dancing up a Storm
Ickle gets excited when the theme music comes on for the Antiques Roadshow, today I watched as she pushed her chair closer to the tv, climbed up on to it and started dancing. A little too cute.
Things have been slow in our house recently. Since Easter Ickle has had a virus and been on antibiotics and has just finished a course of steroids to help clear up bronchiolitis.
Em decided while Ickle was sick it would be a good idea to try to wean her of needing to be wrapped when she sleeps. Success! Ickle now sleeps back in her sleeping bag and she has even been having long naps at day care – they even complained they didn’t get to play with her!
It’s been important for us to get Ickle a bit less dependent for sleeping as we’re heading away in 4 and a half months. Oh that’s not far away *minor panic*. We’ve started to organise accommodation for our 3 weeks in Canada which has been fun. I’m also reading The Packing Book by Judith Gilford and have learned a great deal so our next step is luggage shopping.
And an Ickle update…. she likes to dance, she desperately wants to learn to climb on to the couch and she is still fascinated with our cats and has started chasing them when they run off *thud thud thud thud*. Her favourite foods are custard, cheerios and vegetable korma (in that order).
