The Big Stuff for the Nursery
We’ve had Bugs’ nursery kit on layby since the start of the year – hooray for January sales!
Our layby comprises of:

Bertini Cot in White

Bertini Change Table

Maclaren Techno XT Stroller in Lime Green

Maclaren Rocker in Cornflour

Safe n Sound Meridian Car Seat – Bugs’ is in Midnight Black
We’re picking everything up in early May, just before the Baby Bee.
Ants in Her Placenta
Bugs has been really active the last few days, or, maybe I’m just noticing more. I think she may have set up some sort of skate ramp in my uterus and is trying for a 1080.
Maybe we should have nicknamed her Ants instead of Bugs?
Over Half Way
It may only be by one day however we are now over the half way mark! If she is spot on time, we’ll be meeting Bugs in 139 days – that’s not long *deep breath*
Yes, it Looks Like a Labia to Me
I spent most of Friday with my belly hanging out being touched by strange men. So pretty usual really.
The morning started with me attempting to drink a litre of water and hold it for 2 hours. To give you a bit of perspective it’s like filling a water balloon with a litre of water and throwing it between two people and hoping it doesn’t burst.
Cursing every bump in the road we made it just in time to the radiographers for an ultrasound. We had a trainee radiographer who quickly showed us around until Chirpy Steve came in to do the “important stuff”. Bugs was floating peacefully in a Zen-like position and happily gave us thumbs up and showed us some good nose picking. After me finally being able to do the world’s most unimpressive wee, Bugs turned around and Chirpy Steve took a peek between Bugs’ legs. “Yes, it looks like labia to me”. Chirpy Steve thinks Bugs is a girl. Due to the Lotus position Bugs was in we couldn’t get a conclusive answer which sucks a little bit however this didn’t stop us going and buying a bunch of pink/purple/orange coloured clothes. Hooray for Bonds!
Our appointment with Batman the OB went well too, he measured Bugs’ heartbeat and gave us a run down of the scans from the radiographer. My heart rate was up as I may have been a little bit excited after seeing Bugs, the jumping around in joy could have been a contributor too.
Can you believe Bugs’ thighbone is only 2.7cm? She is tiny!
The Pandemic of Migrating Beavers
This week we’ve been checking out child care centres in the hope the “Child Care in Shambles” reports rampant in the media are fictitious. Eeep, apparently we should have booked into a centre before we moved to Adelaide, then there may have been a chance to get Bugs in to somewhere by 2010. As every parent is in the same boat, it seems everyone registers at every centre, like getting in every line at the supermarket and the demand seems to be inflated – that’s my theory anyway – BatGrrrL’s Theory of Relative Child Care Queues and the Pandemic of Migrating Beavers, don’t get me started on Migrating Beavers.
On the weekend we made another mortgage payment (ok, that’s an exaggeration) to the baby furniture lay-by. Everything is in and we’ve organised a May pickup, I’ll post some pictures of what we’ve ordered soon.
