Bugging the Bug

We’ve hired a Doppler so we can check on the Bug; make sure he isn’t having any rowdy parties in my uterus. It’s amazing to hear the different sounds coming from down there, from the ghosts/wind in the trees sounds of the placenta to the rushed pumping of the Bugs heart – hopefully one day we can get Sir* Wiggle-a-lot to stay still long enough to record a sample.

I’m still feeling really well as long as I eat regularly. I’m missing deep sleep so I’ve been tired this week and looking forward to the long weekend and maybe having a sleep in.

January has been a great time to stock up on things for the Bug as there have been some great sales. We’ve laybyed the nursery furniture with the exception of some things we forgot for a 15% discount. We got a Grobag Egg and a Belly Belt set for 20% off and some cute gender neutral cheeky tshirts and aloha wraps for 40% off. We still need to organise a capsule and well, everything else really – I think that’s the reason it takes 9 months for a babies arrival, the parents need time to prepare!

*Again, sorry if you’re a girl Bug

Reported Missing: One Brain – Please Call if Found

There have been many things I’ve done over the last few months that I’d like to attribute to being pregnant – I’ve read the book and apparently I’m allowed to do this with anything I like.

I’ve put frozen lasagne in the pantry, vegemite in the freezer, icecream in the fridge, margarine in the pant(yes, there should be an R here….)y I’d go on however I may embarress myself further. Today I noticed the car wasn’t running very well and realised I’d filled it with the wrong type of petrol.

Oops, I’ve forgotten to set a timer for the oven, please, lasange, don’t be burnt!

OB appointment sans OB

Today was our 14 week checkup with the OB. While we were in with the midwife gasbagging and bloodletting the OB slid down the batpoll and away to make a delivery. Our midwife decided to do a quick scan with us to check that the Tummy Bug was gorging ok.

We got a most excellent front on image of The Bug and he* was there bouncing around grabby waving – he was grabby waving!!!! We also got to see the umbilical cord pulsing, the head and legs kicking around. It was like he knew we were peeping at him.

We’ll hopefully be seeing the sex at the 19 week scan which we also booked in for.

*For now we’re saying he – because if it’s a girl, we are only one letter off ;)

The Goddaughter Has Spoken

During dinner with our Goddaughter Laylah and her parents last night, we told Laylah “Nouna Renee has a baby in her tummy.” She brought it up again later when I was playing with her very cool Christmas presents in her toy room.

“Nouna you’ve got a baby in your tummy.”

“That’s right.”

“It’s a baby girl and she is going to grow up to be big and strong.”

Interesting…

Are You Going to Be Alright in the Car With a Chicken?

The Tummy Bug is a little over 13 weeks now and has been introduced to most of our family and to celebrate he/she has started to pee inside it’s amniotic fluid. Tasty.

Christmas was great, we road tripped interstate to see my mum, brother and extended family and got to meet our new nephew Ben for the first time. Before we’d told everyone I was holding Ben and about to pass him to Em when Jess walks in and says “Oh look out, some people are clucky!” Needless to say she claimed it was intuition when we told her the next day we were expecting.
For New Years we went and watched a movie and saw a preview for the Simpson’s 2D Movie which will be released at the end of July. Em whispered to one of our good friends “The Tummy Bug will be born before then.”. Enter reality. Oh My Gord. Thinking on my feet I whisper to our friend that she’ll have to babysit so we can go and watch that movie. Phew. Crisis averted.

We’ve got another OB appointment this week, hopefully we’ll get another TB photo to add to the collection. I swear The Bug is growing at a rate of knots, I’m peeing more often now and there doesn’t seem to be much room down there. I’m also pretty hungry and almost have an interest in food again – the most appealing thing right now is Vegemite on English muffins. We’re even braving driving to a friends for dinner with a BBQ chicken in the car tonight!
